Music
Come let us sing for joy to the Lord' - Psalm 95
Music is an important part of worship at St Mary's and we are fortunate to have a variety of musical groups - bell ringers, a choir and a praise band. St Mary's, with its excellent acoustics, is a popular venue for concerts and recitals, recordings, lectures and exhibitions. It is a major venue for the Lammermuir Festival held in September. Our organist is John Anderson. Stewart Macrae is our choir leader. Contact us on music@stmaryskirk.co.uk
St Mary's at 4
St Mary’s at 4 is our series of free Sunday afternoon concerts during our summer Visitor Season. Admission to the concerts is free of charge, with the opportunity to make a donation to church funds. This year we are raising funds for a project to clean and restore the clear glass windows at the East end of the church.
The series invites individual musicians and groups to contact us if they would be interested in giving a 45-60 minute concert at 4pm on a Sunday during the spring to autumn seasons, which is generally from Easter-October. There are no fees paid to the performers but they are given the opportunity to perform in our lovely church free of charge.
With its warm acoustic and spectacular architecture, St Mary’s is a great place to relax and enjoy great music on a Sunday afternoon. We look forward to welcoming you as a performer or member of the audience! Please contact us if you’re interested in performing in the series and for further information: Click here
